Dear Pam,

\J	I really enjoyed our dinner and conversation
last night, and I look forward to doing it
again soon. Are you perhaps free for some activity next weekend? I'll call
to find out. I'd have asked you about this weekend, but I am taking my
daughter Sarah skiing for the first time.

Here are the technological essays. I haven't omitted any, even the most
incomplete. I hope you like them and consider the goals worth pursuing. Of course,
most of the ideas need to have an immediately implementable core extracted from
them.

If you read the essay on social views, you will probably see that my
views differ from yours. Nevertheless, I think we have a lot in common. I would
be particularly interested, of course, in your ideas on the essay
\F1Technology and Women's
Liberation\F0.

Today, a storm seems to have blown up in Stanford internal politics that
might but probably won't precipitate trying to realize one of my old dreams -
an independent graduate school of computer science. By the time I call you much
more will be known and there may be no need, but we'll see.

After you went to bed, there was a fine bull session, but as usual I
have forgotten all the names of the participants. The basic issue was whether
technology is more likely to work out well than badly. I think they will work
out reasonably well even if people don't pay any attention to my sterling advice.\.

					Best Regards,

					John

the letter to yourself.
